Identity
Molina Diaz
I am the color brown... overlooked and underappreciated. This aids my ability to blend in. I am a rain
storm on a bright and sunny day. I am dessert...welcomed, yet turned away at the same time. I am me.
Not like you or he. The she in my bio means survivor, healer, and ethereal. Nevertheless, “she” was forced
upon me. The she/ they/ he of complexity is astoundingly intriguing. My identity is not fixed. Unlock
your third eye and you will see that I am the prime example of extraterrestrial, for I am not of this world.
My essence is that of sophistication and divinity. I will not play by society's rules of acceptance. The hair
on my arms is a rebellion against the non rebellious. The base in my voice is a critique against the soft-
spoken.
I desire to be known and looked up to, all the while being helpful and low key. The beautiful thing about
me is that I know who I am, yet I know nothing at all. However, I am not searching- going with the flow;
the motion of the ocean is my favorite sound.
I am vivacious. I am winsome. I am me, and me is moody, kind, trustworthy, selfishly selfish, and giving.
I am me, and me is sad for no reason at times. Me is patient. Me is impatient. Me is complicated. Me is
indecisive. Me is sensitive. Me is a hot head. Me is caring. Me is indifferent. Me is insecure. Me is
straightforward. Me is strong. Me is astronomical. Me is whoever I want to be and right now I am a
surfer- riding the wave of possibilities and freedom.
The formidable thing about being different is that I stand out. I am the unicorn in a herd of horses- not
tied up to pillars of similarity. I do not have to fight for my individuality. I am me and me is Queen prince.
There is so much more to me than meets the eye, and I could go on and on about “who I am”, but know
that I am me. I will not be suffocated by boxes of black and white, for I will achieve greatness.
